My objective with this project was to create an identity system for myself that visually expressed the qualities of my character. I value being true to myself and maintaining a boldness in my values. I also live my life in an organized manner, which is a quality I believe to be essential to my ability to go about life spontaneously and thoroughly.

Silver AAF Award-winning piece in Nashville

Designing for oneself can be difficult because, as a designer, you are constantly catering to another’s restrictions and guidelines. At first, it felt uncomfortable to design for myself and put together a set of rules for the branding because, similarly to putting together a brand for a client, we must further discover who we are and what qualities of ourselves should be made known. In this process, I not only learned something about design but also about myself.

This project evolved in materials and the treatment of my logo. When I first meet anyone, the first thing commented on is my name. It’s a rare name for someone my age. thinking about this consistent recurring instance, I knew I had to incorporate the qualities associated with my name in my identity design. Additionally, because the boldest element on these compositions is my name, I wanted to reflect this identifiable term in my printing materials. For this reason, I chose to print on pearlescent paper.
